I love the sport of football but I must say that the commentating last year on Sunday Night (ESPN) was the worst. I never paid any attention to the guys b/c they never made any sense and always contradicted themselves. Madden is the ultimate football commentator, and he can never be replaced.

If they haven't dropped Theisman yet, they never will. They probably feel bad for the washed up 1 game wonder. He did nothing through his career, he knows nothing about the game.
Cornheiser or whatever his name is....another fool. He never cared for black athletes, and now he has a job commentating for a sport where the majority of players are black (go figure).

Look for a "shut the hell up" type of season out of these guys. If ESPN cant do any better than these guys, then they should've never bought the rights. Back to watching Monday Night RAW for me.

I think that you need to give them a chance to establish a rapport with each other. That's what the preseason is all about.

Tony Kornheiser is one of the greatest sports writers of all time. And, his TV show, Pardon the Interruption, on ESPN with Michael Wilbon, is first class. I think that you will find him quite good as the season goes on. Tony will fail at this job only if the NFL muzzles his comments.

Joey T. is also an effective broadcaster. He brings a good player's perspective for the game since he starred for the Redskins and Notre Dame. He comes across as somewhat pedantic at times but I think that Tony will loosen him up.

Mike Tirico is a very competent play by play guy. He takes his role seriously. He gives out the normal number of stats and is quick with his description of the play as it unfolds. He has paid his dues on golf broadcasts with Curtis Strange. If he can handle Curtis, he can handle Tony and Joey T.

Get to know them. I think that you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Mike Tirico is okay, but I have never liked Joe Theissman (going back to his Redskins days - I pull for the Cowboys) and I don't know to much about that Tony guy. I really like to hear Al Michaels and Mike Patrick call games and of course, Troy Aikman. I like the guys on Sunday best, Howie, Terry, Jimmy, etc.

When ESPN released the news on the MNF commentator lineup, it definitely made me scratch my head and wonder. Now, I've gotta give ESPN the benefit of the doubt thinkin that they should know what they are doing. The chemistry will have to go through the blender to see what floats to the top but....my jury is still in deliberation.

Mike Tirico is doing a good job I think - Joe Thiessman is an ego maniac and Tony seems like he's in awe of his surroundings - hopefully they can find some cohesiveness
