Language and culture. Culture and thinking are dictated by language. Chinese languages are pictographic and literal while English/Scots/Welsh/Manx/Cornish are symbolic languages are therefore promote a different mode of thinking. That is not say one is better than the other as the Chinese peoples have given the world many great things like the concept of money and fireworks. I could go on, but wont.

I'd have to say oneof the primary ones is devotion to one's family and also the fact that knowledge is on such a high pedestal. The most revered profession in china is that of teacher..followed by farmers....all the way down to one of the lowest-- business men......this is quite different from the way westerners look at the world

its the language. british speak english as their native tongue and the chinese such as myself for example speak cantonese whilst also there are those who speak cantonese and/or mandarin chinese.
