The main Goonies were:
Sean Astin (of Lord Of The Rings fame)
Josh Brolin (most notably known for his part in Hollow Man)
Jeff Cohen (who's most famous part was "Chunk" in the Goonies)
Corey Feldman (who's career went downhill soon after making The Lost Boys)
Jonathan Ke Quan (also seen in Indian Jones and The Temple Of Doom)
At the time of filming (1984/1985), Joaquin Phoenix (or "Leaf" as he was then known) was doing bit parts in tv programs such as The Fall Guy, Hill Street Blues and Murder She Wrote. His first major film role came a year after The Goonies was released in 1986 with the film "Space Camp", starring alongside Kate Kapshaw, Lea Thompson, Kelly Preston, Tate Donovan and Tom Skerritt.

Joaquin wasn't in The Goonies but Martha Plimpton, who played the girl with the glasses, also played his sister Julie in Parenthood. He played Gary in that and was credited as Leaf before changing his name to Joaquin a few years later.

I think it was his brother River Phoenix, who died of a drug overdose outside Johnny Depps nightclub in Los Angeles. The club was is called "The Viper Rooms".
There is a whole family and the brother's names include Leaf as well. They are, or were, all actors.
