Seems like it would be nice to do, even though I don't even know what it is, lol...

What does it consist of and what is the process of it?

It's a way to keep the new and healthy cells of the skin showing and glowing. Don't bother!!! You get the same effect by using body/face scruds like the St. Ive's Apricot scrub. It's just a fancy way of saying that a doctor or device is going to sand your skin off! Unless you are seriously worried about very fine lines, it's not going to do much more for you than any scrub. Basically if you go to a doctor, and say you're getting your face done. The doc will put a gloop on your face. The gloop can be many things mostly a very, very fine silica sand, along with a slightly acidic gel. This can be put on directly to the skin or morelikely will be placed on a pad. The pad is usually attached to a miniture car waxer.... Just a small rotating disc, that will spread the gloop across the face taking off the top layers or so of skin cells. This layers is mostly dead skin so when you're done, you have nice fresh skin underneath, this skin is also more sensitive to light, perfume, and weather. Along with the dead skin, very fine lines that are typically confined to the top layer of skin will be temporarily removed.
Please be careful if you get a store kit, or if you go to a doc or spa. Depending on how sensitive your skin is, you might come out of it with a tomato face, along with VERY painful skin. Also the more you do it, the more the fine lines will show up, grow, and spread. The layers of skin you're taking off do dull the skin but also protect it. The dead cells get the brunt of the sun/wind. They're dead, they don't get hurt, but new skin is more sensitive to the damage. If you do it, don't use it too often, let your skin recover.

Microdermabrasion is a process done by a professional skin technician where the top layer of your skin (usually the face) is buffed away. It's sort of like buying a face polisher at a drug store and washing your face with it for 30 minutes. EXCEPT, the product the professionals use at salons have moisturizing minerals in it.

The process is painless; it feels like a cat licking your face. Most people have it done who have acne scarring, or who just like having beautiful, radiant skin. For a person who has acne scarring, or any other type of facial scarring, they would have to have several sessions of microdermabrasion done before they get the results of smoothe skin.

I've had it done several times and I LOVE the results. Sessions are typically $100, and it's recommended you only have about 3 per month so you don't abuse your skin.

I think a microdermabrasion is where they take off all the dead skin on your face so you look younger and more refreshed. Theyre usually done with a chemical peel, which takes off the top layer of skin which results in reduction of wrinkles, fine lines, aging etc.
