Our constitution guarantees representation of ALL people. Why are most of our politicians bottom feeding lawyers? Why not elect various segments of the American society that doesn’t just cover the elite? What about construction workers? What about other laborers and the like?

Are our laws created to protect a selective group of society? Do our laws need to be constructed so that only lawyers can understand them? Do we REALLY need VOLUMES of tax laws?

Seriously, this is the biggest reason that we dont' have representation in this country: Local TV Stations refuse to cover politics on their news shows. This I think is the greatest problem in our democracy. If people were actually aware of what their elected representatives are doing they would be motivated to get out and vote.

The second most serious evil is that election day is alwasy on a weekday when middle-class people are at work.

Finally, there is too much corporate money in our political system, campaigns should be publically funded and local TV stations should be forced to accept advertisements paid for by tax dollars at a very low rate.

Not much that's wrong with politics can't be fixed by imposing some guidelines on local media.

No i dont believe that I have representation in government. I think out government is corrupt crooked and only out to make money for big business.Look into the history of banking in this country and that might change how you thi nk about our government.
There should be no public financed campaigns. No one should be allowed to donate a dime to a specific candidate. It should be donated and divided equally amongst all candidates that way we have a chance to hear more than just republican democrat nonsense. You never ever ever allow a senator or congressman to have more than one term.EVER!!! They get too much power and are corrupted too easily.A constant turn over of representation means that the peoples voices are truly heard because no one is pandering to corporations for donations for the next campaign or working on deals to get themselves re elected. It would keep them semi honest and give everyone a chance to do some good in this country.

Arnold Swartzanigger spent 27 million dollars to get elected Governor of California. Do you know someone with, say a Transmission shop that can spend that kind of money?

Look at Bill Frisk he spent $7 mill out of pocket to become a senator. Not even John Skerry has that kind of $$$

That's why John Skerry comes on this forum to get people to vote for Ralph Nader and the Green Party.

Yes our laws are set to protect a small minority of the population.. Remember the Founding fathers were all white property owners.. it hasn't changed yet.
I think your idea of grabbing different Representatives based on various groups of the population is an excellent suggestion.. I would take it one step farther ..and break it down based on state by state populations.. NY is 44% white and 31% black etc.. then our reps should be balanced based on that race table.. also.. get rid of all soft monies..
of course we are dreaming.

To your first question: a resounding NO!!!!!!!!!

I'd like for there to be a Grand Theft Washington DC game, where you can start out as a student intern staffer and go all out as you try to rack up the dough, start wars and take over the country. Just imagine all the scenarios....

As to your first Q. NO!!
The elite is who the government protects, NOT the working class.
The real ques ton is, Is history repeating it's self? It reminds me of some thing that started in 1933-34.
FASCISM, think about it...
