because thats the name given to a round shape, the round shape came before the name circle did.

Not necessarily, It could B of a shape of your own too if U could draw a circle. I start with a point that I draw till end upto starting point & join it in round. Means U end up where U started.

the name is only relative to the shape in English and every language has a name for a circles
