There's lots of things you can do.
Movies for one, but make it something worth watching like a comedy or action. No horror or romance films because yeah.. I think you get the picture.

Mini-golfing is always fun. Friends go out and do that all the time.

Bowling is super fun (but I suck at it)!

Going to the park, playing some sport.

The beach, swimming!

Then you have your theme parks.

Do something that you guys both have in common.. ask yourself: what do you like to do? Ask her about her interests and somehow figure out a way to do what you guys both like.

What is a non romantic first date anyway? By that do you mean that there won't be any obvious sexual activity, like kissing, making out and.... well, sex, but there will be the idea that you are getting to know each other to see if you feel romantically/sexually attracted? If that is the case, then there are tons of thing you could do.

I would keep in mind that you are looking to get to know this person but don't want to put yourself in an awkward situation, so it might be good to do things in which you get to do "fun stuff" and also get to talk. It depends a lot on how much time you are planning on. For example, if you are planing on dinner and movie, it might be wise to invert it to a movie and then dinner. That way, you will have something to talk about during dinner (so you should pick a good conversation topic movie) and go to a not to romantic restaurant, but one in which you can have privacy.

I would definitely avoid a group activity (going out with your friends or family) if at all possible.

Try to find out things this person might enjoy and that you could introduce her/him to, since this would also be a way to "present yourself" and let this person know a little about you. (But, please, never, ever take a date to a Trekkie convention or use you Mr Spock ears.)

All in all, it's not so much the things you do, but your attitude that will make it more or less romantic.
