I never really thought about that, but maybe.

I guess not though. Weren't the Stormtroopers white? Of course, they were the good guys once though. Hmmmm. Interesting.

Star Wars follows the classic pattern of good verses evil that has been popular throughout history. George Lucas was smart enough to realize that when you have a clear villain and clear heroes who are human and flawed, you end up with something that the general population can get behind and enjoy.

Your observation that most of the characters were white is interesting--but both the heroes and the villains were mostly white, so the racism charge doesn't work too well. Add to that . . not all the characters were white and some were from other planets (not just other races). I think it's a stretch to pull out the "race card" here.

No. There is no racism involved here. Harry Potter had a bunch of Brits and other Europeans but no one should condemn the director because not enough people of different races were casted in it. It's just completely irrelevant and the way it is works for the movie because they were probably even more than or the same amount of ethnicities in the world (in Star Wars). I certainly don't believe anyone was safe with the Dark Side either and danger doesn't discriminate... it happens to every one.

Considering that Lando Calrissian, Yoda, Chewbacca and the Mon Calamari (to name just a few) had a vested interest in the agenda of the Rebel Alliance, I think your argument is a bit weak.

No, why would you think that? I think it was about classic good verses evil. Why does race matter? Darth Vader what white.

I don't know. But I'll bet it made a lot of black investors deliriously happy, no doubt.
