How long does the cord stay on the baby after birth? I heard it could be a few weeks before it dries off. If this is the case, are onesies off limits until the baby is free from the cord?

Nope...onesies are fine for a baby with a cord. It takes anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks. Keep it dry and wipe it with alcohol everyday. If you don't you'll end up with a deep belly button that is hard to keep clean.

My son wore onsies and had no problem. It will take several weeks before it falls off but as long as you clean the area as directed then you shouldn't have a problem.

Our baby's was about a week.

And no, you are able to use onesies, as long as they are 100% cotton.

I found the easiest thing to dress them in were the little gowns. They have elastic on the bottoms and it is easier to change their diaper...especially at night
