try lying down on the side opposite of the pain, the baby might just be pushing on one of your organs. this will help the baby move away from that organ and relieve the pressure/pain

All I can say is..they move lower! lol. That's what happened with my son. Contractions started up high, then by the time serious labor came, it was down very low in the pelvic area. Just time them to see how close together they are, and how regular.
I sat around my house for 9 hours with contractions 15 minutes apart before being able to call my doctor. Didn't deliver until 14 hours later.
Your best bet is to keep an eye on how close they are and make sure it isn't a come and go thing. If they do get more intense, even irregular ones, give your doctor a call anyway. If you are already 3 cm then it shouldn't be too much longer.
Congrats ;).

It would be very unlikely for these to be contractions. It is possible for the baby to have put a foot or body part under your ribs. This can be painful. If you have repeated sharp pain in your abdomen, you should always be evaluated while pregnant. You could be having placental problems. Good luck to you!

Contractions usually start at your back and wrap around your stomach, and they are painful......you can always call your dr. and ask that's why the get a paycheck, it also could be the baby stuck under a rib, that happened to me and it was sore and painful until I got her to move out of that position.

No there were prob. NOT contractions. They do carry more in the pelvic area. They usually do not just contract on ONE side!! Good luck with the BaBy!!

It could be! Don't run to the hospital just yet though.. If they are more than 5 minutes apart, they will send you home.. Start timing them, if they are regular, and give your doctor a buzz. If they are closer than 5 minutes, it's time to head over.
And of course, if your water breaks, head over right away.
Good luck!

You can feel them anywhere...even your back. Call your doctor. They may put you on a monitor to see if they are real contractions to be on the safe side.

BH. But not the real ones. When you have a real contraction you won't be able to speak, type, walk, or move. You'll just sit there and hurt...thats it.
