If you want to do what is right in God's eyes. Jesus said for us to follow the laws of the land and the Bible also says no sex until marriage. Now, I am not sure what you expect from a committed relationship. If you are speaking of a relationship where sex is involved, you should be married and this means a piece of paper.

If you are a female, it's hard to believe you are the one asking this question. Most of the time it's the guys who are trying to keep from getting the piece of paper because they are doing everything a married couple do physically, and not sharing the responsibilities of the relationship.

A piece of paper? Like what, a candy wrapper?

J/k, I understand that you mean a marriage certificate. I don't think it has as much to do with "committment" per se, as it does with practical concerns on the one hand, and social norms on the other. Like it or not, our society makes life much easier for couples who are officially married compared to the ones who are simply "together". This "piece of paper" comes with a lot of benefits.

Absolutely not.

Before the actual marriage happens, you and your partner should already by commited, and faithful, and in love. The "piece of paper" just helps you gain more legal rights in our society. If you are not confident in the amount of commitment in your relationsip, getting married will not make it better.

No, but I don't consider that the purpose of the "piece of paper."

That piece of paper is to obey a civil Law, and God want;s us to obey Civil Law. What would happen to you if the father of your children died? You'll loose everything this Country has in store for spouses and children.

The father/mother of your children have worked for the family, retirement checks, S.S. and other benefits they have accumulated is for when one of them passes on.

Consult your Bible and and search it in the book of civil laws.

No but it means legally you are bound as husband and wife. What's wrong with that. If you are going to live together and have kids. Why not?? I enjoy being married it makes you work twice as hard because you can't leave when you want. You are bound until death
