My family and I have reservations to vacation in Myrtle Beach, S.C this labor day weekend, and we are to arrive on Thursday of this week. I am traveling with six kids, my husband and my mom. The resort we are staying in is right on the ocean front, what should I do?

This is what needs to be considered. You are traveling with a lot of people. Have you done this before? Are you prepared for an emergency? Do you have a lot of extra money? Prepared for the gas stations to be out of fuel and traffic to be backed up for miles or maybe even being unable to get out of the city where you are staying? The Carolina's usually get tornadoes and heavy rain after hurricanes pass through Florida so the vacation will be rainy at best. Forecasters generally can track the storm a few days ahead but it is much easier to cancel the reservations if you have to and plan an alternate vacation. Having vacationed with 5 children and a spouse, it is not that easy under normal conditions. Safety should always be first. Best wishes.

I'm in SC and the weather here says that our beaches are safe this weekend...but if you are coming from FL stay out of the road...it won't be safe.

Yes after Katrina I think the whole USA learned a lesson. But if you do go be prepared and take your survival kit.

Watch and see how strong it is. You still have a few days until you know for sure where it will strike.

I dunno, it depends on how serious the threat it is.
