How much do you spend on makeup per year,do you have a budget?

I don't have an annual budget. I spend what I have when I want too. (in short - no credit - just cash) If we are not talking about skin care then I would estimate that I spend $300 to $400 per year. I buy some stuff at Target like mascara, some eye shadows, lip gloss, etc. However, I do invest in lip stick (you can spend a fortune buying at a drug store and then finding you don't like it vs. trying it on and loving it, and paying a little more) at the dept store, as well as brushes, lip liners, etc. Your make up should not be kept forever because germs are trapped in the applicators (disposable ones only of course), containers, etc.

I was surprised at some of the answers....as if because I like make up I am fake or trying to please men/society. I wear make up if I feel like or don't. I will go out to dinner with my husband with a freshly washed face or completely made up...and I feel great either way. I enjoy applying make up, I like the way it feels, I feel great/beautiful wearing it (or not), and can't believe that I should be made to feel bad or less than other (some) women.

I spend about 200$ a year, depending on if i have any special nights when i need to look really good and that means the expensive makeup comes out.

That will be interesting to know what women say.

Some years ago, probably back in the 80's, there was one of those sexist child support dead beat campaigns. You know, one of those publicity things which remind all intelligent males that women actually believe themselves to be inferior to men and thus can't survive without money from a man, even when they have a great paying job.

There was a claim that a lot of child support was not paid, a number in the billions. I looked up the commerce figures in the library, since Web was not available then.

It turned out that year women spent four times as much on cosmetics as the amount of unpaid child support. You gotta' think about that before it really makes sense. I call it: Paint a face or feed a baby.

I average $50 or less. I typically only buy when I run out of something. On occasion I'll buy a new lipstick or eyeshadow color if something comes out that I really like, but other than that I don't buy makeup too often.
