Why is the media always so negative?

Last week it was reported that an Austrian teenager was held prisoner for eight years in a dungeon by a deranged man who forced her to call him master.

Typically the so called responsible media only concentrated on the negative aspects.

But in fact it was really a success story for home schooling.

"The police officer said she had been surprised by Ms Kampusch's "intelligence, her vocabulary" and that she had been "educated" by her captor, who gave her books and access to TV and radio."

Who else thinks the media missed the point with this story?

You think the point of the story is a success story for home schooling? Are you sick? The girl was kidnapped and held capative for 10 years!! YOU are missing the point. The point is not home schooling.
Of course the media distorts truth. They are trying to get ratings and/or readers. They focus on the more entertaining aspects of anything they report. It's not "missing the point", the media has and will always do this.

The media has always found one way or another to alter the truth, depending on the circumstances. But, I'm not sure why they do this. I myself don't believe everything I hear on the news.

There has been rumors been going around that the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing in 1969 was shot in a Hollywood studio to deceive the public.

But I wasn't even born back then so I can't say for sure.

"good" stories don't get much ait time. people want the bad and worst of things I guess. the media simply caters to those wishes. ALL media is biased one way or the other so there is no "good" media available today. only what will attarct the most viewers or get the most subscriptions.

The point was that this girl was being held captive. It had nothing to do with her intelligence or her captors home schooling abilities.

television, radio, print... maximum great media shops generate plenty of their funds from classified ads. the bigger the corporation that needs to promote, the bigger the business. the great, flashy classified ads that take in valuable promoting area cost quite some funds. therefore, the bigger the corporation, the bigger the money coming in from those classified ads. we are seeing a way in present day monetary gadget the position great entities have obtained and take care of assorted companies by using technique of mergers and/or acquisitions. operating example, Time/Warner, sparkling Channel, Conde Nast own an infinite majority of the important media shops in radio, television, and print. those businesses generate quite some funds by their classified ads and this gross sales is shared with their inventory holders. in truth the inventory holders share in the earnings produced from those massive businesses - the more beneficial funds the media businesses make, the more beneficial funds is going to the stockholders. some (or maximum?) of those stockholders have ties and affiliations to different communities, alongside with authorities, religious establishments, and so on. If a information article is shown to circumvent or instruct factors of the reality that advertisers and inventory holders do not favor to bare, advertisers can instruct their dissent by using pulling away. truly, this is a boycott - advertisers pull out, the media outlet loses funds, the inventory holders lose funds, so the inventory holders ought to pull out besides. truly, in the adventure that they post a narrative that the money-makers don't love, the money-makers make the media outlet lose funds, and each and each body in the chain loses. with the intention to maintain their modern position, maximum media will "spin" the reality to make it look more beneficial favorable to those who keep the media gaining funds.
