I tracked down the company from taking it off the house to Variform. However this company no longer makes this siding. People who have it in a box want to charge $180.00 a box for it. All I need is one section. It comes in a savana blue. I tried GP (george pacifc) however it is too dark. I really just want the colors to match. Do you guys know about painting it or what..... What would be the normal route from here. I don't want to take any from the back of my house either.......

I was also told that other companies may not interlock with my siding. GP may not overlap variform......

Not sure how your gonna match it up, but one of the big problems is going to be even if you get the exact same colour from the same company the old stuff will be slightly different because of weathering. The existing siding will be sun bleached. I don't think painting is going to be an option either because even if you get a good paint that will stick to vinyl it to will weather at a different rate than the original. I would say if it is a very noticeable part of your home your only option would be to remove some siding from a not so obvious part and replace it even though you don't want to. Hope that helps.

I was watching This Old House and they showed how they confronted the same problem. One thing you may encounter depending on how old your siding is, is that the paint may be faded and if you buy a new piece of the same siding the new color may not match because it is a different color. They took an old piece of siding from the back or behind a bush, etc that was about the same color and moved it to the front to match up the color.

I do know from working at a plastic injection plant in the past that plastic can be spray painted. That is how they get the silver coloring on many of your plastic parts. If you decide to go the route of spray painting the vinyl siding, I recommend going to your local hardware store paint section and telling them what you are wanting to do. They may have an additive that can be added to the paint to make the paint stick better to the vinyl. They also should be able to match the color up almost perfectly using their paint matching machine if you bring in a sample of your siding. I recommend testing the paint method on a sample before going gung-ho on painting your vinyl though.

Wow that sucks-try the local home depot or lowes or other building supply. Try to take a sample of your old stuff to match it up with the new. Yes they do have primer than you can use on vinyl and the color matching machines today do a good job.
