I doubt you will induce labor but you sure risk diabetes! The only way corn syrup, which is basically just a sugar with a very high glycemic index, could induce labor is by provoking diarrhea. Cramps from laxatives sometimes also stimulate uterine contractions.
I'm not sure why anyone would want to drink syrup to begin with.
When the right time comes to have the baby, there are things to jumpstart things, like nipple massage. Even if it doesn't work, at least you and your partner can have fun trying it.

Don't believe everything you hear. That is completely ridiculous, do you realize how sick you can get and the baby?????????? Anything that contains high fructose corn syrup in large quantity is not healthy for anyone. It's one of the major causes of obesity.
When I was pregnant 14 years ago, I did crave green olives dipped in maple syrup, but I only would have a handful and it was real Vermont maple syrup, nothing artificial.

Are you sure they weren't talking about castor-oil? Karo syrup is just sugar. I've never heard of using Karo syrup.
Besides, even castor-oil is a long shot for early labor and it's nasty stuff.

Its an old wives tale about CASTOR OIL. Its more of a laxitive than anything. If you can choke it down go for it. My wife tried and couldnt swallow it, kept choking and coughing it out. Just wait till your 38 weeks and start having a LOT more sex. Trust me.

It's just corn syrup--I can't think of any reason that it would cause premature labor. If you are actually worried about this, ask your OB/GYN.
