People with your point of view truly are morons, or at least illinformed. This is based on what you said in your rant/question. 75%of the problems with Katrina (and I am being generous putting 25% on the White House) were local government issues and FEMA problems. I am not saying Bush is a good president I would rather have someone in office with new ideas, an independant who does what is right not what his party or lobbyists want him to do. America was founded on great ideas and revolutionary thinking. People reaching for something better, not, settling for what we have. We should stop pissing and moaning and actually do something. How many people on this board have called their senator and congressmen to complain. Or do you sit at home and listen to what CNN tells you to believe, and then do nothing to try and change it.

I read a statistic that I think sums this up quite well, and showcases how stupid people can be and how easily America is led wherever the media says for us to go.

With all of the money that was given after the storm, they could have written a check for over $120,000.00 To every person displaced by the storm, and that would be before they got anything from insurance for their belongings that were lost. They could have moved elsewhere and started a new life and nearly owned their home free and clear. Instead they want to go back, like that makes some kind of statement about the American Spirit. I think it makes a statement about how idiotic they are. I would have rather been given a check than to move back to that hell hole and live in a freaking fish bowl waiting for the next storm that will do it all again. All the while being goverened by the same idiotic mayor Ray Nagin, that didn't evacuate the city when they SAW THE STORM COMING FOR 4 DAYS !!!! This isn't like 9/11 where it was a surprise attack, this was something that they had been told for 30 years was coming, and then they watched it roll towards them for 4 days and still dd nothing. THe people there got what they deserved if they are dumb enough not to leave when they see that coming, then to RE-ELECT RAY NAGIN after the storm. This does nothing but show exactly how stupid these people are. But if they can get a handout from someone they will. I am so fed up about hearing about this. They were stupid and they got what was coming to them. I say build a bunch of oil wells or turn it into another wildlife preserve like the everglades in Florida. Anything but send all those morons back to the same place to pump out more dumb *** idiotic illegitamate kids.

Oh and by the way, let's not forget that Florida was hit by 8 hurricanes in 15 months but nobody donated hundreds of billions of dollars to Florida. A couple weeks after Katrina, Texas was hit by Hurricane Rita, which was also up to 175 mile per hour winds... you don't hear them crying do you? No, and you know why, because the type of people that live in New Orleans for the most part, are the type of people who will take a handout whenever they can, rather than have to work for anything. I say bulldoze the whole damn city, and fill in the fish bowl with the rubble.

One last thing, they chose to live behind levee's designed to withstand a class 3 hurricane. When they saw a 5 coming, they should have left. Rebuild that sesspool of a city? Why, so we can have rampant crime again? So we can go to Mardi Gras? Is Mardi Gras worth hundreds of bIllions of dollars? People want to talk about the 9/11 commission and how the government failed to protect us from a SURPRISE ATTACK THAT NOBODY HAD EVER IMAGINED WOULD HAPPENon 9/11, but ray Nagin and the govenor of Louisiana don't deserve to be ridiculed when they failed to order an evacuation when they saw the damn thing coming for 4 damn days. I am so fed up with this crap. Get over it people.

Oh and one last thing, and this is something that has been conveniently overlooked by all the media outlets. Everyone criticized Bush and the White House for not sending in the National Guard earlier. What is overlooked is that due to seperation of powers and other intergovernmental crap, Bush can't just order the National Guard into a state, it has to be Okayed or at least signed off on by the governor of that state they are being sent to. n addition, the governor would have to had let Ray Nagin know ahead of time, however the blame is placed squarely on the shoulders of the White House, yet again, thatn on the shoulders of the Governor of Louisiana or on Ray Nagin. People shouldn't believe everything they see on TV, they are so biased it hurts. I am surprised there isn't a network called DNN or LNN for the Democratic News Network, or the Liberal News Network.

I've never been a supporter of any kind for Bush, but others should also be held accountable not just him. During Katrina, I was working security for one of the shelters and I couldn't beleive the watse of so many items that were donated.
Refrigerators, stoves, cots, clothing and food stored in warehouses just gathering dust. Yet Red Tape kept them from being received by the disaster victims. Most of these items were confiscated by Red Cross to be sold and the money suddenly disappears. The government answers to the people, but nothing will happen unless someone asks what is going on. Stop being the Silent Majority.

I'm not sure what the question is. It is more of a rant than a question, but a rant I pretty much agree with.
President Bush hasn't done anything that Congrress can impeach him for.

You mention though the most important issue. Voting. In my opinion it is the People who have failed the Government by not turning out to vote. We have a chance soon to let the parties know what we want. If you don't register to vote and then go out and do it this mess is YOUR fault. While you are going out to register take along a few friends and make sure they get out and vote as well.

It seems that our country is only worried about helping other countries anymore. There is more money sent out of the US for aid than for its own country.
However, I do feel for the hurricane victims, I feel everyone needs to learn to help themselves.
Funny how most food stamp people eat better than us hard working folk.
I could be wrong, but do for yourself, the government has another agenda. If you wait for assistance, you could be living in a box under the bridge by then.
Good luck.

We need to follow the rights set out in our own constitution and replace this administration since it is failing us miserably..it is clearly provided for in that "goddamn piece of paper"..One of the biggest problems is that there are always too many people that think "Well, that's not my problem.." and they leave the others to deal with it. I seriously don't know what it is gonna take for people to suddenly have an epiphany and realize that WE are bigger than THEM and to stop this BS!

those who place their hope in the government are doomed for disappointment.

do you really blame/reward the politicians who "serve" this country? you're placing too much power in the hands of people who don't know you or really care about you.

A politician once said to one of his constituents, "I love and care about your children more than you do."

The constituent's response was, "So, what are their names?"
