It affirms the secularity of India.
Dear skroy50, did u flunk in History or something?Ur lack of knowledge suggests that. Have u heard of the Mauryas, Chalukyas, Cholas, Cheras, Pandyas, Kanishkas, Palas, Rashhtrakutas and Pratihars??? The mighty emperors - Chandragupta, Prithviraj, Ashoka, Rajraja Chola,Samundragupta, ..............???
I pity u.It's appaling to know ur lack of information.I'm sure u're not an Indian.Had u been an Indian u wouldn't say such ignorant, shitty stuff & communalise the issue. The Mughals & Britishers came later. The earliest rulers were Indian, Hindu rulers.History bears tetimony to the fact that that India prospered under these rulers. And, by the way, the 1st president of independnt India - Dr.Rajendra Prasad. The 1st P.M. of independent India - Pt.Jawaharlal Nehru.
Go get some knowledge of Indian history & politics & don't try to spark a communal reprisal here.

Hi, Malcom. A good question indeed. Though India's population is 600 million and the majority of them are Hindus, it has willingly handed over the reigns of power in the hands of non-Hindus. There lies true spirit of democracy, the sum and substance of Hindu philosophy. Religion is a personal affair. Religion should elevate the inner personality of an individual through the noble activities of his outer personality. Everyone should have the liberty to choose the religion of his choice but not by anykind of pressure. Religion is nothing but faith. Let's not involve in arguements whether there is God or not, how many Gods are, or whether the God is male or female. There is an unseen Supreme Power which we cannot see but we caertainly experience Its presence. All the three mentioned in your question are Indians first and their religions come last. ThankQ.

TWO-FOUR THINGS WE COME TO KNOW BY THIS:
1)HINDUS ARE THE MAJORITY..BUT NO HINDU IN THE TOP THREE POSITIONS..........STILL NO HINDU IS COMPLAINING.........SO MAJORITY HINDUS ARE QUITE MODERATE....
2)MINORITY ARE GREATLY RESPECTED IN INDIA......
BUT STILL WE FIND THAT A SMALL INCIDENT MAKES THESE MINORITIES INSECURE.......AM FROM PUNJAB.....TAKE EXAMPLE OF THE SIKH YOUTH WHOSE HAIR WAS REPORTEDLY CUT........THERE WERE RIOTS IN PUNJAB....AND WHY???IN PUNJAB EVEN HINDUS ARE ALMOST HALF-SIKHS......
3) YOU FORGOT EXAMPLE OF MR. K.R NARAYANAN...THESC/ST PRESIDENTOF INDIA.....
BUT STILL IF YOU SAY ANYTHING TO A MINORITY OR A SC/ST...THEY THINK THEY ARE BEING HARASSED COZ OF THEIR CASTE OR RELIGION.....DUNNO WHY!!
2)THIS ALSO SHOWS THAT THE PRESENT EDUCATED YOUTH.....WE DON'T CARE IF YOU ARE HINDU OR MUSLIM OR A SCHEDULE CASTE OR TRIBE.....WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THESE PETTY ISSUES.....WE WANT WORK...WE WANT PROGRESS..........IF THAT CAN BE PROVIDED BY SIKH,HINDU,MUSLIM....OR ANY OTHER....
THIS ALSO AN IMPORTANT ASPECT ON THE RESERVATION ISSUE......THIS SHOWS THAT WHEN THE ANTI-RESERVATIONISTS SAY CASTE SYSTEM IS GOING OUT OF INDIA....THEY ARE CORRECT....WE EVEN DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR RELIGION...LEAVE ASIDE THE CASTE....
BY ALL THIS I WANTED TO SHOW....THAT ALTHOUGH INDIA IS AN UNIQUE COUNTRY WITH ALL THESE EXMPLES YOU GAVE.......BUT STILL WHEN WILL THE DAY COME WHEN PPL WILL STOP PLAYING MINORITY CARD......WHATS WRONG IN TELLING MUSLIM COMMUNITY TO THAT THEIR YOUTH IS STRAYING......AFTERALL THE FACT IS THAT A FEW INDIAN MUSLIMS ACTIVELY PARTICIPATED IN MUMBAI BLASTS....
YES INDIA IS SECULAR...BUT ALL COMMUNITIES HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEMS.....THEY HAVE TO TEACH THEIR MEMBERS TO BE INDIANS FIRST!!!
INDIA IS AN UNIQUE EXAMPLE....MAY BE FOUND NOWHERE IN WORLD....
JUST TO TELL YOU THAT I DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD!!SO DON'T TAKE ME AS A HINDU BRIGADE ACTIVIST...BUT AM A HINDU.....AND I THINK THE SAYING SHOULD BE LIKE......
HINDU MUSLIM SIKH EESAYI....CHAHE HO JAYE KABHI LADAYI.....PAR RAHENGE FIR BHI BHAI-BHAI.....

none of them elected directly by the people of india. Sonia is president AICC by virtue of her being widow of Rajiv Gandhi, no one with in AICC dare compete her.She was elected AICC president by AICC members, part of people of India, who paid their homage to departed soul and capitalise on the issue. Manmohan singh was elected leader of NDA by elected members of NDA. And President again was elected by.............. come on. u know the procedure. No invovlement of public directly and thus this result. It is the outdated constitution that is bringing out such outcome. A major overhaul to it is required. For now I have to say when u cannot change it, enjoy it. So India is a great democratic and secular country and proof of it is the fact that key posts are in these hands...............................

truly i feel awed at it.india is really great.this baffles out the statement of pakistan that india is playing secularism as a gimmick.
unlike india's heavily muslim bethren where minorities have little importance india is standing up to its motto,"unity in diversity".
