Well, it depends. If the rainbow was just sitting there with no source of light, then accept it as a miracle and say your thanks be.

If there was a source of white light, like the Sun, either at the center of the rainbow or directly behind your head, then it could be just an unusual rainbow.

If it was high in the sky, then there was ice at high altitude that was playing with the light. If it was below you, then probably ground fog was refracting it.

Rainbows only need water droplets in the air, they don't need clouds. Even a lawn sprinkler can make them.

;-D It is a pity you had no camera to save the moment. Enjoy the memory - whatever it was!

well it could be water droplets in the air, there doensnt necissarily need to be clouds int he sky to happen. all you need is water and sun! just as if you were watering your lawn and you see that faint rainbow. to see a reainbow though your back has to be facing the sun. sorry to hear about your brother but he's probably thinking about all of you =)

good luck=)

rainbows are absolutely beautiful and briliant!

I saw one of those once on a snowy day. I called it a 'snowbow'. I guess it can happen when there is moisture in the air...doesn't have to be rain or clouds, necessarily.
