or do you think they are a bunch of dirty non tax paying scam artists I'm undecided about this I have heard both sides what do you think?

I know many Amish. The majority of them are money hungry and very bigoted. They aren't as tolerant as you may think. Many of the men are alcoholics but they make their own beer, whiskey and wine so nobody sees them in bars or buying it.

I went to Amish country in Ohio. They really put a lot of effort into their life style. Sure they don't pay taxes for the most part but boy do they work hard! I couldn't hack it. So no, I don't think they're bad people and I don't understand why not paying taxes would make them so. If anything I admire that they're self reliant.

I'll say what I always say, there are good and bad people in every sect. The movement as a whole I'm not too fond of and I have never known any Amish people personally though to be able to place judgment.

I live in Lancaster, PA. Believe me they r scum, u wouldnt believe the half of it. Check out the Megans law web sight and check out how many Amish pervs are out there, then google amish puppy mills these people r sick.

If we said anything bad about them here, they wouldn't know. :-)
But I don't have anything bad to say about them. It's a culture and I don't get it, but I don't have to get it. They *do* pay taxes on their businesses, too. And the ones I've met have been nice. They make nice quilts, too.
