I lean towards John Byrne. His style is very humanistic, and he's also a decent writer. Been impressed with him since his first run on 'X-Men', but was wowed when he revamped the big S on 'Man of Steel'. Didn't say that to suck up to you 41082, just my opinion.
FYI, there is a marvelous depiction of Supes on the web as drawn by Moebius. Use your favorite search engine, then download.

Alex Ross - most realistic and lifelike art I've ever seen in comics.
Gabriele Del'Otto- similar painting style, not quite Ross though
Bryan Hitch - really good traditonal penciler
Los Bros Hernandez (Love & Rockets) do the greatest job of drawing women of all shapes and sizes in a simple, cartoony way.. I cannot explain it
Berkeley Breathed is the best newspaper "comic-strip" style of artist, and his storylines are hilarious.
