Those guys in the Bible like Methuselah didn't really live that long you dolts... It makes sense that at the time in the Bible that we're talking about the Israelites still used the Egyptian calendar which was based on LUNAR cycles. Thirteen lunar years per solar year makes Methuselah about 74 years old... an amazingly old age for a human back in the days before medicine and hygiene. He must have had REALLY good genes to live that long five thousand years ago, and been darned lucky as well, life was brutal back then. There probably has been some case somewhere at some time in human history where a person has lived beyond 120, it probably isn't documented anywhere though. Soon I think it will be more common place to see people living that long due to advances in genetic science.

The longest unambiguously documented lifespan is that of Jeanne Calment of France (1875-1997) who was aged 122 years and 164 days at the time of her death. Jeanne Calment met Vincent Van Gogh when aged 14, and in 1988 this led to her, at age 113, becoming noticed by the media. Subsequent investigation found that her life was documented in the records of her native city of Arles, France beyond reasonable question. In fact, more evidence for the Calment case has been produced than for any other supercentenarian case, which makes her case a 'gold standard' among the 'oldest people' recordholders. This is contrasted with the now-disputed claim of age 120 for the oldest man ever, Shigechiyo Izumi. While recognized by Guinness, even the Japanese authorities have hinted that his age was not certain. This claim was accepted in 1978 but subsequent additional research (as early as 1984) has raised doubt as to whether he was wrongly conflated with a brother who died at a young age.
Presently, the oldest verified living person is the 116-years old Elizabeth Bolden of the USA, born August 15, 1890. The oldest verified living man is Emiliano Mercado del Toro of Puerto Rico, born August 21, 1891.
The following tables list notable oldest people, in various categories.

Interesting thought. If we are using the ages in the Bible as measured in lunar cycles instead of solar cycles, then why does Genesis 6:3 stated 120 years as man s oldest age possible? Was he using lunar or solar years? Methuselah was mentioned in chapter 5 of Genisis as living 969 years. Was that in lunar years or solar years? Why the change between chapter 5 and 6? Obviously, it is ridiculous to live almost a 1000 years in solar cycles and equally ridiculous to only live to 120 in lunar cycles. Any thoughts on this?

Probably not. Can you imagine the poor fellow that attains the ripe old age of 120 and how many people would be shoving microphones under his nose? He would just Die!!!
Btw, odds are it would be a female.
Odds are that person could thank genetics and diet for his/her age
Odds are he/she would NOT have had a stress filled job
Odds are he/she would have shunned medical doctors most of his/her life
Odds are he/she will not live in a metro area
Odds are he/she would have been married at some time
Odds are he/she are still active well past the 100 year mark(not in front of a tv or comp screen)
Odds are you or I will NOT be the one
Odds are cancer will be the disease that ends the 120 year reign

I don't know. But the oldest lady in the world just passed away either today or yesterday. She was 116!
Here's another old person.
Jeanne Louise Calment
Jeanne Louise Calment (February 21 1875 - August 4 1997) had the longest (reliably reported) lifespan for any human being in history. Her lifespan has been thoroughly documented by scientific study. She married her second cousin Fernand Calment in 1896, and survived her only child and only grandchild. She died at the age of 122 years 164 days in Arles, France; the same town she was born in. She said that in her younger years, she met Vincent van Gogh, later describing him as "dirty, badly dressed and disagreeable."
She was the oldest person ever whose age has been verified by modern documentation; born 1875 Centuries: 18th century - 19th century - 20th century

The woman in France that's listed above was the oldest person who had good documentation of her age, and I think I have a clue as to how the ages in the Old Testament got so high. I think they were using lunar cycles, not sun cycles. It's happened before that units of measurements got messed up. Remember that 40-50 was probably old age back then--if Methusela lived to be 969 lunar cycles, he'd have been 74.54 years old--that would have been ancient compared to most. If Noah were in his 500's, he would have been about 40. That's about right.

Cruz Hernandez (SAN AGUSTIN, El Salvador) turned 128 on May 5, 2006. According to national records, Hernandez was born on May 3, 1878, in one of the country’s central provinces, where she gave birth to 13 children. She now has 60 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great grandchildren. National birth registry officials sent Hernandez’s documents to the Guinness World Records organization last year but have yet to hear whether the case was accepted.
