Last nights opening sequence show Conan going down in an airplane crash, I understand that it was a take-off on Lost but don't you think in light of American losing their lives yesterday morning in a Kentucky plane crash that they could have at least edited out that segment?
Im sure that if was one of the actors or producers they would have been a memorial tribute at the last minute, why did'nt somebody say "Hey this needs to be changed".

A note to the people that believe we just need to relax & that it is just TV. It use to be the standard in radio and TV that if there was an airline accident there were no airling advertisments for 24 hours following, just out of respect. This incident did not effect me but there a plenty of folks in Lexington Kentucky that had every right to be offended. There needs to be a standard, I'm glad I don't look to hollywood for it.

If the planes had hit the twin towers Sunday morning and killed thousands of people, would the segment have been cut then? You bet! So why are 49 people LESS important? If a "plane crash segment" would have been tasteless after 9-11 then it should have been considered tasteless after Sunday morning! Or do a certain amount of people have to DIE before Hollywood considers it IMPORTANT?!?!?!

Uh, no...I would have edited out Conan entirely as I do not care for him in any way shape or form and did not watch the Emmys simply because he was the host. The segment in question was done weeks before that plane crashed and frankly I would be astounded if very many people even thought of this as an option.

I don't see how this any worse than 24/7 media coverage in which they actually exploit the victims and their families for ratings. Plus, this was done weeks ago and is a spoof on Lost. Are they going to cancel Lost, now? Sometimes, we as a nation are too sensitive.
This is nothing like Katrina or 9/11 which are rare occurances. Planes, unfortunately, crash all the time.

i heard a couple radio personalities commenting on this issue in the morning......... now of course it was tragic....but you needed to have the airplane bit for the rest of the bit to work... or else it wouldve been pointless. You cant change something like that in such short time. People are too sensitive nowadays........ and even though something really tragic happened, changing the bit at the last second wouldnt've changed a thing.

Well I agree with you to a certain point, since it was such a recent event. But if we changed everything based on something bad that happened in the past, we would have, well, nothing at all! People are generally good at moving on. Plus, no one was forced to watch. But I kinda agree too, I'm on the fence with this one, good question!!

I think people needed to take the whole thing as it was intended-it was a spoof of LOST and was funny. I know the plane crash was new news and was horrid but, the Emmys aren't something to be taken too seriously.

I agree with you somewhat. However, I don't think it is necessary for Hollywood to pay tribute to "everyone". Plus, I don't think that many people had gotten the news about the loss of life from that plane crash.

i think americans just want to turn everything into some big controversy. the plane crash bit was just a spoof of the show Lost. it was meant to be funny, so rather than taking offense, why can't you just relax and enjoy it?

I thought about that for a second when I watched it....but I think people have to lighten up. How else would you get stuck on an island? Conan is awesome.
