My bestfriend's 12 year old daughter has been searching the internet for porn. But in her searches they all say girls and sexy girls or girls with girls. Does this mean she can be attracted to girls or can it be just that she is at the age that she is exploring and wants to see new things. My friend is very worried because her daughter won't admit to being the one searching and has been very mean to her these past days afraid that maybe she perfers girls. I tell her not to take so hard that maybe she is just exploring. Her daughtet does seem to be very attracted to boys. I don't know what else to tell her, I don't have any children of my own but I know that she is very very concerned.

Its possible that shes Bi and thats ok..but the problem is that shes on here looking and shes to young..she needs to put a stop to that and watch her more closely. She's hit that age where she wants to know about the oposite sex and the same sex..there are alot of women that are turned on by women and thats where it stops, dont worry about her..just watch her close i dont think shes gay...just curious...

She s coming into her sexuality, and is curious. If she s interested in girls. Whatever. Her mother has to be very careful of reprimanding her for such things, bc it could cause issues However, she is far too younge to be looking at porn. It s very possible she s just curious, which raised the question of why? Is her school not teaching comprehensive sex Ed? Children turning to porn for this information is troubling. Porn does not depict healthy, or realistic relationships. She should not be learning these things from porn, period. Everything relating to sex and sexuality should be taught in school be a qualified public health nurse. There are studies upon studies that show that kids will not believe family or close teachers on these issues and will turn to peers and the Internet for often incorrect information. However authoritative 3rd parties are often regarded highly. If her school is stuck in the bronze ages, take her to the nearest women's health clinic for sessions on your own.

12 year olds should not be allowed to look at porn
turn on parental controls on computer or turn off computer
also, the type of sexual content will deceive her into thinking she likes girls, because that's all she has been able to find so she thinks its normal WHICH IT IS NOT
if your friend thinks her daughter is not using computer right, then daughter should not be allowed to use it unless adult is with her. You are only trusted as far as you are trustworthy.
Daughter has been nasty because she is guilty and is trying to avert her mom from porn to the attitude . tell mom to stick to subject and not let kid manipulate her.

Just a thought, maybe she isn't lying when she says it isn't her doing the porn surfing. Maybe it is the boyfriend/father/cousin/brother that is doing the surfing and HE won't admit it (and is happy to see the blame deflected).
She has barely reached puberty if at all, and is being harped on about being lesbian already? She needs to be given space to develop normally without getting a complex at 12.
At 12 yo it is quite normal to be curious.

This is very dangerous it could turn into a serious and dangerous obsession. I’d suggest your friend start putting parenting locks on the internet and even monitor her on line use. Just look at the movie Cyber seduction the storyline fictional but it based on real events

Well alot of girls like to explore at that age, find themselves if I may. No matter what she needs to show her daughter love and not judge her even if it turns out to be that she likes girls. If she trys to push this then the daughter is more likely to be gay just to piss her mom off.

install a porn filter software like NetDog on the computer,that will block all porn sites quitely in the background when she's surfing on the internet. http://www.netdogsoft.com
I install netdog too, that can protect my kids stumbling into pornography by accident. Strongly recommend !

its just a phase, tell her not to worry, and if she ends up liking girls, its not a big deal. its the way she wants it. but after a while you might want to have parental control so she cant see the porn on the internet.

she should be more worried about being policed for searching the net for paedophillia because they are catching people all the time for this,you are being watched,also you have to pay for porn and she shouldhave a child lock on her computer she will have her daughter put into care

My guess is that she is simply comparing herself to other girls. The problem is that she's comparing to fake porn stars and will end up with a low self-esteem, or try to be like them to become "beautiful". Lets face it, why would she want to see mens' penises anyway, they're ugly :)
