Find a lawn tonic. This will kill the weeds and feed the lawn. After a few days you will notice that the weeds have gone black. Once this has happened, you can rake out the dead stuf, moss etc. The bare patches can be reseeded. If you can cover the seed with some plastic it will encourage growth and prevent birds from stealing the seed. Hope this helps!

Spray the existing weeds with a spray (weed killer, but not lawn killer) make sure it doesn't rain for 24 hours, but it's not over 85 degrees farenheit. The poison is harsh, and will strain your grass, but if it's hot, it will just kill the grass around the weed. Once the weeds are dead you can fertilize with a weed and feed. This will nourish your lawn and help kill any seeds that may have dropped on your lawn. Make sure your lawn gets watered well for the next 2-3 days to help feed your lawn and kill any germinated weed seeds.
