We lost power for 5 hours one night. When we woke the next morning my self cleaning oven was in lock. It is an electric oven with a ceramic cook top. I think it is about 20 years old. The oven is operated by buttons and one dial to set temps and times. When the clean button is pressed, the oven locks. Then you set the time and duration at the oven does the rest. I ran it through the clean process, with the racks locked in, hoping that it would unlock when the process was finished. It did not. Any suggestions. I cannot find the book.

I suggest that you call the manufacturer, a local service rep, or look on web for the number, and possibly 'common questions' section.

Have you tried just pushing the 'cancel' button? If it has completed its cycle, perhaps it is just a tight seal and needs a stronger yank at the oven door to get it to open? Usually, it won't unlock until it has completed the cycle and then cooled down so it is safe to open....it sounds like it probably was cool when you tried to open it up? Good luck.

This might seem obvious but I've done it before; I have to physically lock my oven to put it in clean mode. I do this by pulling a lever from the left to the right. The lever is located above the oven but below the stovetop controls; kind of hidden. Is it possible that your oven got locked this way, by someone (my kids do it a lot) sliding the lever over without your knowledge???

on self cleaning ovens you are running very high temps in the oven for cleaning. when the cycle is done it will not open you have to wait till the oven cools. this is so you dont get burned when opening the oven door after cleaning.

Hi Joanna, Let's see what you've got... Dream opens by commenting on your insecurity ("lock") where others are concerned ("seeing someone walking on my street" + "I do not recognize"). The fact that you do not recognize means that there is something you are unsure of, therefore, you do not recognize it. The street may indicate a path in your life which someone else may also be on. At least as far as you are concerned and the need to keep something safe. You are at home ("front door"). Are you on the porch? Because you are at home, seems to hint to something a bit personal ("ensuring my protection"). The front door shows welcome and/or opportunity. About that lock... "the door never locks". Whatever you are attempting to secure, you are having difficulty with. Dream says you're having a problem getting a handle on things ("whenever the handle is pushed-") it is too easy to make you insecure about a certain matter ("the door unlocks"). Is there a man in your life ("always ends up with theman coming towards the door"). Again, the door is opportunity and someone else, in your dream is finding it easy to unlock your door ('and opening it"). Think on that! PS: The fact that this is recurring means that it is something that keeps coming to mind and you are having difficulty resolving why this keeps happening to you. The dream says you may be open to someone's advances and you can't seem to lock them out of having easy access to your open doors. -Ginger

After it finishes the clean cycle, it has to cool down for a while before it unlocks.

Look on the manufacturer's web site for manual info and a help phone number. There is usually a place that you can poke something into to unlatch it - they can tell you where and how

Due to you loosing power like that , when it came back on there might have been a surge strong enough to blow the fuse in your oven. Check out the fuses! you might just have to replace one.

Have you tried to unplug it and reset it's memory.

Worth a try. Manufacturer should have a website with a help section.
