Hopefully all that happened is that you fouled the spark plug, how ever if the motor was running and you shut it off there may be a carbon build-up that is causing the valves to not seat/seal and if this is the case you most likely will need professional service assistance.
Clean the spark plug with spray carburetor cleaner and check the gap.....should be .030 to .045 two standard business cards should give you an acceptable gap if you do not have a gauge.
Spinn the engine over a few times with the plug removed and the plug wire grounded to prevent ignition of gas fumes....
Re-install the plug and try to start the machine without using the choke. If it does not start try slowly adding choke.......
Good Luck..!

Its difficult to answer this cos you don't say how long after the mowing you wanted to start it again.......I will give you 2 reasons why it could happen like this...as you know when the choke is on it sucks more fuel and if you cut the engine with access fuel in the carburettor and it stand for awhile like that the fuel left in the float level can be the reason cos it can make blockages in the fuel jet.....if its the reason just unscrew the fuel jet and clean it.......If you use it with the choke on and you cut the engine just for a short while and try to restart it again and the the engin was still hot with the choke on it just flooded the carburetor cut the fuel to the carburetor if there's a valve between the fuel tank and the carb. inlet swing the engine for awhile and it should start ..to make this quicker unscrew the spark plug and dry it and swing the motor without the spark plug two or three times just to make the piston head dry,

The rich fuel mixture probably fouled the spark plug. Remove the plug and replace it or clean it and the mower should start.

Sounds like you fouled the plug out, do a tune-up and that should do it.
