I had a spyware infestation that did that also-every time I opened my browser it sent me to some security site to buy their crappy removal service. Even after changing my homepage, when I relaunched my browser, that stupid site would be there again. The crap even disabled my task manager so that I could not manually close it out- what a pain in the rear. The free spyware removal programs did not work- the trojan horse would somehow prevent them from starting. It sounds as though the spyware is a part of your computers registry (what your computer reads from to start and run your programs). The way I had to get rid of that garbage was to have a computer tech erase my computer and reinstall all of my programs again!

I had my PC affected by spyware some time ago and it was such a pain. I carry out all my work from my system. Tried running an antivirus but the problem returned again and again. On top of that I didn’t have all that time to take my system to a repair shop or wait for a technician to come and fix it. Hence I called up one of this online virus removal services that can help remotely. Finally they were able to clean my computer.

Remember dear, that prevention is better than the cure!
Prevent spywares by using reliable web browsers, like Opera (my own advice) or Mozilla FireFox!
Both of them are free to use:
http://www.opera.com
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox
also be careful with the crack files. If you use cracked software some of the crack files have something on them. Try finding serial numbers instead of downloading crack files.
Having a good firewall can also help you, prevent getting spyware, and also helps you to find spyware on your system, by not letting them to access the net. I recommend ZoneAlarm. But Norton Firewall is also a good choice. To remove your existing spyware you can use ZoneAlarm antispyware, which is included in ZoneAlarm Pro v6. Also Yahoo! Toolbar has a very good antispyware software on it, and this toolbar is free. Download Yahoo! Toobar and use it. There are some other software for antispyware usage like spyroot spysweeper. The are good also but you should pay for them.

Sounds like a redirect trojan to me. That is a virus. Run a virus scan on your computer. Also on internet explorer go to tools, internet options, and change your home page to what you want it to be.

Try using Avast Adaware and Search and Destroy Spybot. Update all of your cleaner software and try running the scan again.
