I just read this the other day.
Apparently it is a throw back ot the old days, when our food wasn't taken care of as well as it is today. Our body gets sick to avoid any bacteria, or other harmful things that may have been in the food we ingested. This is the body's way of keeping the baby healthy.
Of course now we know about refrigeration, and such so it isn't as likely to happen now, but our bodies have kept the defence mechanism, just to be in the safe side.

Most women with severe morning sickness find they can get by if they can just manage to eat a few small snacks and drink fluids throughout the day. However, if you undergo a prolonged period when you really can’t keep anything down, talk to your doctor. You may have a rare condition called hyperemesis gravidarum (Latin for “excessive vomiting in pregnancy”). Your doctor will be particularly concerned if you are losing weight, vomiting frequently, vomiting blood, or becoming dehydrated. (Signs of dehydration include feeling unusually fatigued or lightheaded, producing very little urine, and excreting concentrated, dark urine.) Fortunately, excessive vomiting during pregnancy – although serious -- is easily treatable.

Because dehydration can be risky for your baby, your doctor’s first concern will be to replenish the fluids in your body. Your doctor may recommend that you be given fluids through an intravenous (IV) drip, prescribe an anti-nausea medication, or both. In severe cases, your doctor might also put you on bed rest or hospitalize you until your condition stabilizes.

hormones......Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

because of the fact the others mentioned, it truly is because of the fact of hormones. I had morning disease indications from taking a undeniable delivery administration as quickly as (it replaced my hormones). yet no longer each lady gets that nauseous feeling, my mom mentioned she did no longer puke as quickly as while she grew to become into pregnant with me. needless to say she nonetheless had hormonal transformations, yet all of us is diverse.
