Everyone knows that actions speak louder than words (or looks). However, when one has to make a quick assessment of a person's morals, ethics and personal character many times the person's appearance is all we have to go on.
Let's take two men, same age, same ethic background except man #1 has tattoos all down his arms, various parts of his face pierced and wearing pants that looks like their about to fall off compared to man #2 who is a clean cut, decently dressed, no peircing nor tattoos. Put this two people in the following scenarios:
I'm driving down the road and I see a broke down vehicle on the side of the road. Next to this vehicle is a person standing there trying to wave down some one to assist them. I have to make a quick snap judgement as to whether or not I'm gonna stop. I'm going to keep driving if it's man #1. However, if it's man #2 then I will most likely stop. (I do this quite often.)
I'm hiring a person to work for me. I can look at his resume and I can visit with them in person. All other things being equal and even with man #1 being a bit more qualified, I will still hire man #2. (I have made this decision on several occasions.)
My daughter points out a guy at school she wants to date. Man #1 has NO chance while Man #2 does. (Daughter made decision to date man #1 and it was BAD experience for her.)
Through all of these scenarios I think you can argue discrimination based on looks, but the point is.. the decision for these men to look the way they do is so they can present a certain image. That image, in cases where I know nothing else about them, is what I have to base my decision on. Therefore, it is a direct consequence of their actions to be perceived as they are.
When all the facts are not known (beliefs or actions of the individual) then perception is reality.
So.. while you don't want to be accused of judging someone by their looks, for a majority of the times in your life where you have to make a quick assessment, then a person looks is 100% of what they are judged by.
Hope this helps!

I wouldn't even say act like either. More along there character yes. Because you can't lie or fake character. Ppl pose and act like all kinds of things they aren't today, so you can't judge ppl off that. Unless they are really being real to you and themselves 24/7.

I always judge people on who they are inside and how they act towards others. Beauty comes from within and how you treat others. Beauty is good manners and caring for others. Beauty is a kind and loving heart.

For one thing you should never judge anybody for anything they do or say or how they look.
what makes a person is whats inside of them. Looks do not matter, its whats inside that counts the most.
If a person is great on the inside, you will never notice the outside.

I don't judge people on their looks. However, if someone doesn't know how to spell, or at least speak, correctly, I tend to not have a favorable opinion about them.

You should not judge a book by the cover, but for the contents for which it holds.

I definitely agree.
Except that sometimes it's difficult.
I tend to judge people by their looks, and then find out I was wrong.
Oops!
