Just wait until they start giving Social Security to the illegal aliens. Then how long will you have to wait? At the SS office there will be 10 lines for Spanish Only and 1 line down the street for English. Isn't this just a wonderfull time to be Alive....

First and foremost I pray for a positive and speedy resolution to your appeal.
I have heard of so many stories like yours and how people had to hire a lawyer, etc. I don't mean to discourage you any more than you have been so far but, I have a friend that waited 5 years and then finally got approved, so there is still hope.
My story is a little different.
I worked for 24 years and 3 weeks for a major telecommunications company then got fired for my absenses. Which were due to my medical problem. I didn't have the Monday or Friday abscences like some people did. The majority of mine included hospitalization. Mind you I was 1 week from being able to take early retirement.
While in my last hospital stay a hospital social worker came by and asked me if I wanted her to help me with an application for SS disability. Feeling the way that I did I told her fine... I didn't care but "whatever". Thank God she didn't just blow me off. She filed the paperwork. She told me that I would probably get denied the 1st time. She also said that I could file an appeal and I could either hire an attorney or go to their office and they would help me with the appeal at no charge.
I did get denied and in my state of mind I just didn't care. At this point I was behind on my mortgage payment and truck payment. Here again I thank my Heavenly Father, about 2 months later the same social worker called my home and asked if I had gotten a response from SS. I told her I had been denied. She told me I could come in and they would file the appeal for me. Idiot me... it took me about 4-6 weeks to finally go to their office for assistance.
Approx 6-8 weeks later I got an approval letter. The whole process took approx 10-12 months.
So don't lose hope and again my prayers are with you and your family.

I am 62 and have been turned down for regular SS because I have a misdemeanor warrant from 12-27-96 in Oregon. They told me to call the sheriff out there and I even wrote them a letter. they say they will not come 2000 miles to pick me up on a misdemeanor. At least you do have a lawyer. It takes awhile for the case to be heard before the judge. I assume your lawyer is getting a third of your initial check, so the longer the wait to see the judge the more he gets. I know it is frustrating when you see so much government waste in spending. Good luck to you, I hope that you get your settlement soon.

It took me over a year and one appeal, but I was lucky. Its not uncommon to have to go to the admin law judge and even beyond. Its good you have an attorney, hope he's a good one. Its a slow process meant to weed people out. I hope you have a decent admin law judge. In my area, people who have to go on to federal district court don't always fair well, there are a couple of federal judges who hear the cases that are real hard a****. Here's hoping you have luck.

I'm headed your way, due to worker's comp insurance co. not authorizing needed surgery, and no one in the government is enforcing the laws to make them perform.
SSD denied me, saying I don't have an injured knee, and saying I have arthritis in both knees (But they NEVER even checked my good knee), and saying I don't have high blood pressure, when I've been under medication for over 8 years.
When we lose our homes, we will be free from having any property, and therefore from our responsibilities to act in a regular social manner.
We will become products of our society, once good Americans, abandoned by our government and those controlling it's actions, and expected to do WHAT? with our selves.

Have your lawyer check with the Social Security Hearings and Appeals Division to see what the hold up is.

Its bad here in the UK too. I didn't have to wait that long but when I did get mine, it wasn't enough to keep a puppy fed for a week. I am now in the throws of fighting them for a higher award.
I fully sympathise where you are coming from......been down the same road as you and keep coming to a dead end.

you are in luck. Now that you have been turned down twice you can get an attorney and he can get it for you (for a % of course) There are attorneys that take cases like yours and you do not have to pay them until they get you disability.
SOCIAL SECURITY TURNS EVERYONE DOWN. I have been turned down 3 times and my mother has been turned down 2 times. I finally healed from what ever it was making me sick.I was healed by faith and prayers, but my mother is 68 and still has not had any luck. It has been 3 yrs. for her.

technically, in view that after the first time they are already 1/2 useless, the 2d 1/2 ought to truly be 1 / 4 of the initial aliveness. so that they could be 3 quarters useless after the 2d time being scared 1/2 to lack of life. that's an exponential decay ingredient.
