I need to have a jacket and some pants altered. Nothing fancy, just making sleeves and pants shorter. I need a reasonably priced place that will do good work, preferably in the city/mid county.

No, I haven't tried the phone book, I want some recommendations. I don't want my clothes to come back ruined. Who knows what you get in the phone book?

Any tailor should be able to handle that job.

Have you tried your local phone book?

In the past I used Alteration World on St. Charles Rock Rd and Fee Fee (it was across from Midway Party Supply).

You may want to check the Professional Association of Custom Clothiers (PACC) http://www.paccprofessionals.org/index.php?module=pnAddressBook&func=viewDetail&id=216&formcall=edit&authid=db820b2c173343ed68956e24b4cded10&catview=2&sortview=0&formSearch=&all=1&menuprivate=0&total=311&page=12&char= There were two listed for Missouri. I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Maria's on Southwest Ave. on the Hill is good, it's inbetween Macklind and Marconi, just West of Favazza's Rest.
I'm not sure if they are high or not, they do a great job.
