Alot of thing's depend on the answere to this question. Such as what color is the mold? If it's black then you'd need to call the local health department ASAP because it's deadly. If it's any shade of green and there's no water leak present than you can clean it up yourself with soap and bleach water just keep a fan going to ensure it dries completly. If the water is curently still leaking then you'd need that section of the wall removed, the pipes fixed and then the wall repaired, depending on the size and actual damage behind the wall it could run anywhere from $1500 to $5000. Goodluck!

If it's regular mold, you can do it yourself with bleach. However, if it's toxic mold, you need professionals to come in and remove it. The problem is that you don't know whether it's harmless or toxic unless you have someone come in and then have a sample tested.
Professional cleaning can cost anywhere from $2K and up. It depends on the extent of the mold damage. Many homeowner's policies exclude coverage, but check yours to be sure.
Also, you need to determine the source of that mold. Mold growth requires two things...moisture and humidity. Bathrooms are naturally humid, so you need to find your leak. Once that's done, you'll have a better idea of what you are dealing with.
Good luck.

Depending on the range of contamination it could run from the low hundreds to the thousands. For general mold build up in the bathroom you can bleach it any. Wear rubber gloves a face mask & have it well ventalated. A cup of bleach in four cups of water you just soak the area with the blend and the mold should go away.
If you are serious about having it professionally removed as well as having your home inspected. I think you should, if the pro's find your home has mold, go to your Dr. to make sure that you and your family are not suffering from any residual effects from the mold. Good Luck.

If you just have it on your bathroom ceiling you should be able to bleach it off easily. If that is the only damp area (like no flood damage or water in the basement) you might be OK.
However if you have a really bad situation with a lot of wet places it could cost more than most houses are worth. Get it checked ASAP since the stuff keeps growing while you are thinking about it and no one will buy a house with mold.

The mold on your bathroom ceiling should come off with a good disinfectant sanitizer. If its still there, check for leak posibilites in your roof or your siding.
Bathrooms are rooms that should be rebuilt every ten years or so due to use. Kitchen floors would need to be replaced every twenty years from normal use. If you're abusive to your kitchen, flooring and counters will rot faster.
Mold that can't be removed with cleaners really can't be removed. You basically rebuild that portion of your house. Call a contractor and ask about estimates for inspection, then repair. These numbers will differ depending on the size of the job.

It depends on where the source of water was that caused the mold. If it's a temporary problem, thats already been fixed. Then all they have to do is replace or clean the moldy material. If you have a plumbing leak or something it will be more. You could call several companies and ask if they will come and give you a free estimate. Make sure that they tell you what they are including and what you will be expected to do prior to their doing it. One mold company I called said they would do it, but would not touch it until I removed the source of the moisture.

I'm a renter and the house I live in - also gets moldy right above the shower. That, is caused by humidity, we shower a lot in hot-warm water and it creates that water in the ceiling. I also tried bleach and it works fine, but remember to use a face mask, that stuff stinks and open your windows. Otherwise if it is plumbing around the bottom part of the bathroom then its the plumbing sweating and its getting the walls wet and it may cost you some money depending on the size of your bathroom. Good luck!!

The mold in your restroom is probably from the moisture of the vapors from the shower. It is very unlikely that there is more mold throughout the rest of your home. I work part time for a janitorial supply store and could recommed a few things to take it away. I fyou would like to call me, send me and e-amil and I will respond to you with a 1-800 #.

It would cost you more than it's worth. When you see mold, get the chlorine bleach out and scrub it. Only get a professional when it is black mold, that can be within the walls and causes respiratory problems like pneumonia and can cause permanent damage.

Best bet is to get an estimate from a reputable contractor. Most will come out and give you an idea of what it's going to cost free of charge. Call your insurance agent and see if they have a list of contractors they regularly work with. That way you don't have to cold call or take anyone's word for it. If they screwed up they wouldn't be on the preferred list. Good luck
