You get to take your music with you. Unfortunately iPod will only play music you purchase from iTunes, so if i were you, I'd think about getting a different brand. I love my Creative Zen Sleek. I can rip all my CDs to MP3 files and then sync them to the player using my PC.

Only problem with not buying an iPod is if you want accessories. ALL accessories in the market are built to be iPod compatible. You also have to balance durability with capacity: a 2GB Flash-based Nano should never skip no matter what you are doing, whereas a 30GB iPod Video or Creative Zen Vision will possibly skip or lock up while running if it gets jostled too much, since these are hard drive players and not Flash.

3-Small, can fit in your pocket opposed to a big bulky Cd player.
4-Not as prone as screwing up as a Cd playere.

6-Instead of buying batteries, it can be charged while you sleep.
7-So many nice accssories come along with it.
8-If you take care of it and do not break it, it will stay in good condition for a long time
9-The Video I pod is even better, allows you to download your favorite show episodes the day after they are released for a cheap price.
10-No more burning Cds, just download and keep on movin!

Get that new pioneer inno. That way you get to hear new music, then record the stuff you like on the same device. I got one and it's great, when I hear a song that I don't have but I really like, I hit one button and it's recorded as an mp3 file to listen to later. When I get tired of my collection, I listen to live xm radio.
