Anyone have solid tricks that they use when buying foudation (other than buying from a department store)? I seem to always pick the wrong shade!

Compare it to the jawbone!!! Take out a mirror from your purse and compare. It might take several looks, but you'll find the one that works for you. Good luck!

Personally I always purchase Mary K cosmetics. A rep comes right to my house and if the shade is wrong, she takes it back. You can also try blending shades together too. Sometimes due to the changes in your skin tone depending on the time of year...the color of your face will change. Just blend a darker and lighter shade together to get the perfect shade for you. Good luck.

I buy Bare Minerals - they give you two shades so if you get a little more tan you can mix the darker shade. This stuff is awesome - the colors are forgiving - meaning that if you are slightly different it will blend in with your skin tone!

Well the good thing as in competition with Dept stores, most stores, CVS, Wal, Walmart, will take them back. 2nd, always go 1 lighter than you think you need, I know u can really see whats in the package, just the outside. Usually picking the color u think is yours, comes out too dark.

Before you buy it test on the inside of your wrist or on your neck in doubt buy one shade lighter and mix it with one that you have that is too orange, this is great too because if you buy in the summer it gnna be to orange in the winter

Go to the department store see what they pick for you. Write it down and then go find your own brand. The sales people are surprinsingly good at picking, but you don't have to buy.
