My mom was with this guy for like 3 years and obviously I grew very attached to him, not in a gross way, but as my mom's boyfriend and potential husband. Since they broke up, my mom has remarried and moved across the country. Me and her don't talk at all. Yesterday I saw her ex in the grocery store I work at. I really wanted to talk to him and see how he was doing, I know he would be happy to see me and say hi, but I didn't know if it would be inappropriate, what do you think?

U should say hi. Just because they broke up doesn't mean you 2 still can't be friends. Not inappropriate at all.
