Why is the government responsiable to people who build 3500 feet BELOW sealevel warned 30 years to the day of the storm what would happen? And if you build there again thinking to beat up another Katrina should we let you be swept away with it? I mean one month before the storm NGTV had a special about what would happen. The govt didnt force you to move there. jBut we pay fo;r it?

I mean you chose to live in New Orleans 3500 feet below sea level, it's your own dumb fault, take REAPONSIBILITY for yourselves.

Exactly. The states down there should have a tax fund or something they contribute to for such disasters. The big businesses down there could use it for another tax write-off. The people that choose not to work, but collect money for the disaster should have to work to pay it back. Free clean-up. My heart goes out to the people that go through such disasters because now even the insurance companies are scammers. If I chose to live down there, you would find me living in a travel trailer.

Good question but remember not all of us lived in New Orleans. I live on high ground and yet was hit terribly hard by the storm. If an area is going to get a natural disaster it is going to get it whether you live in the mid-west (tornados), California (earthquakes), etc. Also, the government is putting in place new regulations here for the homes that are being rebuilt. Also, there are entire areas that are not being rebuilt. But I do see your point in some areas...I had questions about the shoreline along Lake Pontchartrain years ago. They filled in marshlands there and built million dollar homes there...always said..One day they will be sorry. Yet they are rebuilding. What I would like to know is how they manage to get insurance when I couldn't and I don't live in a low-lying area. Oh and by the way..New Orleans is not 3500 feet below sea-level..maybe 35.

jBut we pay fo;r it? Your spelling is improving but not by leaps & bounds as it should with the spell check on your upper right.
You know people love handouts. Their problems are always someone else's fault; and of course, the government is supposed to help the indigents of this great nation. The Government should even supply jobs, right? One day, the providers will wake up and the welfare system will cease to be. Where will the indigents go then? The church's will soon tire of the lazy ones, also.
3500 feet BELOW sealevel
That distance would put them halfway to Hell, wouldn't it?
You need to wake up and get a few hard facts straight.

New Orleans is about six feet below sea level, not 3500 feet.
The French Quarter, as a matter of fact, is about 5 feet above sea level, which is why it was hardly touched.
You people are idiots.

I agree with you to a certain extent.
First of all, I think that if they did know (when they moved there) that they were below sea level, they should be responsible for what happens (i.e. flood insurance, hurricane insurance..whatever).
But I think the reason that some people dont move from there is because their family has been there for generations, and maybe they cannot afford to move.
All in all though, I do agree with you!
