I am member of a animal rescue & marine, water safety unit (Fire & Rescue Service)............ my general experience is that sheep cannot swim (with a full fleece) based on the number I have had to rescue (drag) dead & alive from the water.

yes sheep can swim i studied this for my doctorate . i had a pool and 100 sheep to find out, after the 99th sheep drowned eureka number 100 swam perfectly. hold on! oh bugger! it was a goat, bollocks back to the drawing board again oh well science must be answered.

Yes, but I think they swim baaaaaaaaaaaaaadly.
Oh, and they have to be careful to only swim in cold water, else they could shrink if they are in hot water too long.
Yes, I'm sure they wouldn't want to learn the hard way there!

I doubt it very much, I know cats make quite good swimmers, but it would surprise me if sheep could swim, Iknow they can get stuck upsidedown.

i wouldn`t think so, unless the`re sheared. Despite the lanolin in the wool i think it would still get too heavy when in the water and they`d drown

I dunno, but I saw a few sheep on the beach yesterday in Swansea. It's true (they'd wandered off the grass which merged onto the beach)

i think that they possibaly float coz their fleece acts like arm bands
