Sweat alone does not produce these stains. When the sweat is mixed with the chemicals in deorderant, a stain is produced from the chemicals.
There are a few ways to prevent stains like pads that go under your arms or a deorderant like stick that you rub on your underarms and prevents sweating for 24 hours (it is painful though).
Also, bleaching all white shirts or using a bleach pen under the arms works well too.

I have heard that the stains are not caused by sweat, but by an aluminum compound in deodorant mixed with sweat. I don't know if this is true or not, but Adidas does have a deodorant out now that claims to not cause stains and doesn't contain this ingredient. They're hard to remove, I think bleach may help some but nothing will completely get rid of them.

To debunk one myth here, aluminum is not the cause . I have not used Aluminum in deodarant for over 25 years, don't cook or drink with it, don't have any contact with it. So it's not Al that causes this, and it makes no sense either as I also get yellow stains around the back of the collar.

I'll buy the oils from the skin theory, the places where there is most secretions, the armpits and back of neck, gee, what a coincidence !

It is caused by the oils your body produces when you sweat, it is not caused by aliminium as that element is not in deodorants, only anti-perspirants.

If you use a bleach while doing your whites, it will remove it. If the stains are very strong, you may have to use a pre-treater first.

If you place a stained shirt in the dryer, it will set the stain and this can not be removed.

I had the same problem. I use the cleaner Shout and it works miracles! First wet the area of the stain then spray a good amount of shout on the area and leave it on for about five minutes depending on the severity of the stain. After five minutes start scrubbing the stain with a toothbrush as much as you can..after scrubbing rinse it off with water and if you still see a little bit of the stain scrub it again a little..then rinse it off and send it to the dryer or let it air dry. Caused by yes sweat, can be removed, yes. In the Laundry isle of your local Walmart or whatever, theres this little section of stuff, called RID, its dyes and things, they have one thats called White Wash, buy that and follow instructionsm u will be all set. But, shirts and things MUST BE ALL WHITE, cause it will fade anything else on the shirts. No writing or anything.
