If you haven't already consulted your doctor (which I strongly recommend) get some wrist splints from your local pharmacy. It may be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I was recently diagnosed with it and our symptoms sound the same. Of course, if you hold your hand upward your blood may not flow correctly and could cause the tingling numbness too. So just hold them downward to get good circulation. And try the splints to see if that relieves the pain and numbness.

tingling in the hand is just a result of the blood not getting to your hand, try putting your hand down for a bit. Try swapping hands if your on the phone, it could be a sign of poor circulation but I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Circulation could be the answer.
Are you on the pill?
Do you smoke?
A combination of these two factors could lead to sporadic circulation problems.
However, if it's just today, then I'd say you slept on it in a funny way, impeding circulation, and now the blood is running back in and making it tingle.

yes, definitely a sign of poor circulation. at the age of 17 there is a lot of talking on the telephone. your hand will go numb. and the tingling is a sign that the blood is trying to flow. get you a speaker phone and if your hand tingles then, go to the doctor.

You could have circulatory problems or a condition called carpal tunnel syndrome which is caused by inflammation (usually by compression) of the nerve supply to the hand. Generally it causes tingling, numbness and in time pain. I would suggest you see your GP for a more precise diagnosis. He/she can then give you details of treatment options.

if your holding your hand up its because gravity is draining the blood from your arm - it's just pins and needles...
If it's happening even when your arm is in a lowered position it could be bad circulation...
If you have an ache down your left arm - get help/seek prof advice - could be signs of heart strain...
Are you generally fit? not overweight - dont smoke or do drugs?
