COMPLICATED CRICKET CONTROVERSY.

EVERY DAY WE HEAR A NEW STATEMENT BY SOMEONE.

LATEST IS THAT HAIR GOING TO FIGHT BACK LEGALLY

ICC, WILLINGLY DELAYING THE ISSUE TO MAKE THE FANS TO FORGET.

Actually it is the ICC who is to be blamed for the controversy. This is not for the first time that Darrel Hair has been amidst controversy. He has been arrogant several times and has shown flare for controversies. Now the point is ICC does not seem to have a system to judge the umpires in the real earnest. An umpire is a person representing the ICC and moreover he is at a judgement seat. He should always solve problems and should ensure that the game goes on smoothly. Adding controversies is simply against the spirits of the game. ICC should have a system to view the performance of the umpires (preferably from 3rd parties - say retired umpires like Dicky bird, David Shephard). As per rules, he was right to award the match to England but the moot point is could he had avoided the entire episode to take place. Had he been flexible, the incident would not occurred.

There is no controversy. The Pakis cheated and were caught out. Hair has been threatened with an end to his career and requested compensation, as would anyone asked to leave a job for doing the right thing, and is now being accused of bribery as well as racism and attention seeking. The short answer is that if no wrongdoing had occurred this topic would not exist. The other umpire agreed with Hair but has allowed Darrell to cop the flak solo. If the Pakistan team put as much effort into winning a game legitimatally as they do making excuses perhaps they wouldn't be 3-0 down to the poms....

Pakistan have shown true courage by protesting the right way. They are not India of course. Remember the Mike Dennis controversy. Our BCCI was kind enough to forgive him in true Gandhian style. Pakistan have made sure that Hair will not stand in any match Pakistan plays. ICC is playing politics. It can do anything against a subcontinent team as all the money in cricket comes from the subcontinent fans. Who watch matches in England. The Asian immigrants. If SA were to replace Pak in the ODIs, they huge Asian population and spectators would not have come up for the match. They could not afford it. Australia is so dear to ICC. They are demi-Gods and they can not be touched. So ICC is playing the politics of delay.

This controversy certainly will go down as one of the strangest ever.
That status has been achieved by the fact that a man who is reported to be extremely well informed (I mean Darrel Hair) should not realise how open a man is to attack if he asks for settlement money - a lot of it at that.

It would be interesting to see if he gets one penny, and as for umpiring international matches he won't be able to do that - only those in his native Australia will want him.

Listen Hair: you were asked to be a (self-effacing) umpire, not a Grand Inquisitor.

Hair made a fool out of himself and lost his credibility when he asked for $500, 000 to step down in a private memo to ICC.

The fact that they revealed Hair's demand only goes on to show that he is very much dispensable.
