Unfortunately you might have to bite the bullet on this one and go to DMV. Get there really early and just knock it out but don't go near the the end of the month if you can avoid it. It being August 28th, you might not have much of a choice if you need it.

It depends on your age and your driving record as to whether you can renew on line or not. When you are younger they prefer you take the photo over again. Also if you have had accidents rules are rules you have to show up in person. Plus they want the money. It is not free. You have to pay for a new license just like an old one, and; the may want to make it for the full time period so they may want a new picture.

LOL, i think you have to go the the dmv. just tell them you lost your wallet and need a new license! how are they going to know? I've done it before (lost my license, not split it in half) and they were fine with replacing it... i think it cost $20 or not even.

I don't think you can order one online for security reasons. You will probably need to go to the DMV and tell them you need it replaced. Don't worry, they may not even ask what happened to it. If they do just tell them you lost it.

Most places require you to appear in person. What are the obvious reasons? You aren't who the picture says you are? You are a terrorist? You are embarrassed? If it's the latter one, believe me, there are a lot more embarassing ways to destroy your license.

I know a few people who have broken their licenses, you aren't the only one. Go to your local Motor Vehicle Department and show them that yours broke and they should be able to either print you out a new one or retake your photo.

In Louisiana you can renew once on line. Check out your state's web site or go to your state police's website and ask them. You don't have to leave your house as they will mail you the new one. Good luck.

You can indeed renew online. If you live in a county with over 100,000 people, they usually have a website where you can renew. Here's a website directory of places where you can do it:
