A hundred or so of the top selling titltes will work on your 360 straight out of the box if you buy the package with the hard drive. The 360 emulates (pretends) its an old xbox to play them properly. But each individual game has its own emulator, henceforth for storage reasons not all compatible titles will have emulators bundled with the hard drive. Its also worth noting that new games are being added to this list all the time via xbox live. While every title ever released for the xbox won't be supported, a large chunk of the most popular ones will

OK here it is!
Xbox 360 can only play certain xbox titles. There is a list of about 400-500 (I think, I haven't counted but have been told this) games that can be played on 360. However, you can't just place the disc in the 360 and play it, you have to get on Xbox Live and download an emulator to play each game (that means for each game you want to play, you will need a new emulator).

only a little more than 200 titles work on the 360.. many others must be downloaded when developers have decided it's title is even going to be played. so the other guys xbox is not retarted, its just that microsoft has not made it compatible with the 360..

Yes, but only if you have a certain type of x-box 360 for some reason, some will allow to play x-box games but others won't the best thing to do is give it a try, it won't damage teh disc trying.
Another thing you can do is ask the place you might buy the console from to give it ago, this way you will be able to tell which will play and which won't

you could play particular xbox video games with the 360 yet you want the not ordinary force(dont understand why yet i tried myth with out the not ordinary force it wouldent play yet with the not ordinary force it did LOL) So certain it really is extra of a 60/40 supply ore take on the certain facet

They will work on the Platnum version of 360 with the hard drive, not the cheaper regular version. There are some games that will work on both that where manufactured after a certain date that I am not sure what it is. Manufacturers choice.
