I prefer Designer Skin for indoor tanning lotion and hawaiian tropics dark tanning lotion for outdoors. Depending on your actual color get a triple of quadrupal bronzer lotion. It's an indoor tanning lotion that will help stimulate the melinin (the compound in your skin that makes you look "tan") to build faster and also adds an element of sunless lotion that will give you immeadate results.

I know you said that you don't want a sunless tanner but this is a two in one. You'll get sunless tanning results right away (but not in a gross orange streaky way) while the indoor tanning lotion aspect will help you build a nice tan for long term. Don't bother buying your lotion in the salon - that's just nuts. I like to go to ebay where you can get most $50.00 bottles for under $20.00. I'd also suggest that you follow up your tan with Designer Skin's Angel After tanning lotion. It replaces alot of the nutrients in your skin that you lose while tanning.

Another good tanning lotion if you already have a tan color naturally is Smoke or Tattoo. I can't use either because I am not that dark naturally but, I do have a modeling friend who does uses both alternately and she has a beautiful dark tan.

For outdoors I love hawaiian tropics. It gives a good blend of UV protection, while accelerating your tan and taking care of your skin. I hope this helps - e-mail me directly if you would like information on which lotions designer skin makes that work well, which sellers on ebay have the best prices, or any tanning question you may have.

I would use neutrogena in a 5 SPF, dark tanning lotion. My friend used it a week before she went to school and she was the darkest one there. It also looked all natural.

I love Desinger Skin products. They can be used inside or outside, come in cute bottles and some have bronzers that make your skin gorgeous after applying!! Highly recommended.
