I went to Egypt years ago, but I think this tip still works. If you want to buy something there, make sure you bargain with really low price and slowly increase it. Otherwise, you might get cheated. ^ ^

Hello , I am Egyptian and I spent my whole life here.
here are my tips...
Egypt Can be divided into 5 areas
1) Cairo
here you can see the pyramides of Giza and Sphinx you can also see the egyptian museum. there is a lot of night spots where u can have dinner on the river nile or even sing karaoke or dance. Also you can go shopping in Khan El-Khalily but you have to burden the prices. transportation here is easy even tho the streets are crowded. you can take a cab ( prefered the yellow cabs airconditioned and fix fee depends on Kilometers ) also airconditioned bus are the best way for transportation . unless you wanna take a limo if you can afford that :D
2) Red Sea and Sinai
the best spots for diving / snorkling lots of corals and fish you can also have a beduen night in the desert enjoying the BBQ and music .
Hurghada , Gouna , Sharm El-sheikh , Taba , Newiba are the most beautiful places ( 1st 2 red sea and the rest in Sinai )
3) Upper Egypt ( South )
if you are interested in Old Egypt thats the place to see the temples and tombs its a place where you see the greatness of old egyptians. most famous cities there are Luxor and Aswan .
Tip. Enjoy a Nile cruise if you can it takes you from Luxor to Aswan including all the sight seeings between the two cities the trip takes 3 or 4 days. I did that last jan was just a great experience.
4) Western Desert.
thats the place where u can enjoy the simple life in the desert and the Oasis ( inever had that experience but I heared its very good )
5) North Coast.
thats the best place to enjoy summer but always crowded the bach and the sea is good and the weather too.
Finally the best time to vistit 1-4 is during Autumn winter and spring . June till September is too hot there so avoid these 4 months .
and I hope you enjoy and add new things to your experiences ,
if you need anything else please let me know

The humidity issue is realative. I've been to the rainforest in Guatemala... now that's humid. I'm also from minnesota (the land of 10,000 lakes with hot summers but not as hot as egypt) so I know a thing or two about humidity and egypt is not that humid. Much of it is desert and the parts that are not are more humid than the desert but not very humid in my opinion. Also if you want to reduce the amount of merchants bothering you to buy something because your a tourist, dress up in egyptian fashion. A nice abaya and hijab will save you a lot of merchant harrasment. Also it's true you will need to bargain the price down. Don't be afraid to walk away from a merchant's price I've often had them come running after me when I'm almost a block away saying they will offer it to me for the price I wanted. This works best if you can bargain in arabic but merchants often speak other languages in touristy areas. I'd reccomend visiting in Cairo, the egyptian museum, the pharonic village, the city stars mall, khan el-khalili, the pyramids/sphinx, al-azhar, and mohamed ali mosue. They are all really cool and well worth visiting. Al azhar is one of the oldest universities in the world and the architecture of the old islamic mosques is extraordinary to see. In Luxor you can see the valley of the kings the valley of the queens, queen hatshepsuts temple, luxor temple, and of course my favorite the Karnak temple. Don't bother with Aswan unless you really want to see the Aswan damn. There's really nothing else there of much interest. Alexandria is also realy cool to see the greek/roman/egyptian mix of influences. Don't bother with sharm el-sheik or huragada they are over rated and mostly are only good if you like lying on the beach. I was bored out of my mind and as a person who's white as snow I couldn't enjoy much beach. There was nothing to do there and I won't be going back to them ever again. Not worth it especially since they rip you off there immensly and won't bargain much even with actual egyptians it's expensive for everyone period. However the rest of egypt was great. Take a nile curise if you can it's a great experience. I love egypt and go back as often as I can afford to. Best tourist destination ever! There's so much to see you won't be able to see everything in one trip unless you plan on vacationing there for at least a year.

Egypt is amazing ! The museum in Cairo is the best, and of course a horseback ride to the pyramids, especially at sunset.
A Nile cruise is awesome and well worth the time and money.
I havent been to the librtary in Alexandria since it was restored but I hear it is something that cant be missed. The beach there is also good if you go at the right time of the year but it is also really crowded. The people of Egypt are very friendly and outgoing. Be sure to dress modestly sinc ehtye are muslim, they will treat you better, also wear lightweight clothing that gives you some protection from the sun since since it gets hot during the day even in the winter. the food is good and cheap at Egyptian places and if course there is McDoanlds, Arbys and Pizza Hut. You may want to drink only bottled water as a precaution, although the water in Egypt is supposed to be good. if you get a chance go to one of the belly dance clubs, the dancers are great but it is very smoky in there. Most important of all, Have a great time.

Yes, very interesting place. Dress appropriately, the sun is very hot and always carry water. Always count the money when paying somebody, the one pound and tenpound notes are the same color and easily confused. Do not express interest in anything unless you intend to buy, they are very persuasive.
All helpful acts however small will be accompanied by a request for bakseesh (a tip) , it is not necessary to pay unless it is something significant.
The most relaxing way to see the country and the temples is a
boat trip between Luxor and Aswan
Don't miss the Temple of Philae at Aswan especially if they are doing a sound and light performance. And a felucca trip around Elephantine Island at Aswan is a must, you get small boys in tiny home-made boats coming alongside to sing to you in your own language, they are quite amazing
If you are going as far south as Abu Simbel, go by boat on Lake Nasser, the alternative air and bus journeys are a waste of time.
You will see lots of armed men everywhere but security seems to be very good.
If you have the sort of experience I had you will want to return.
