Prilosec OTC or Nexium. Or you could ask him to check your gall bladder. I had terrible pain until I had mine out.

There are many prescription medications that can help with the symptoms of acid reflux. Tell your doctor that the Prilosec is causing side effects and he can switch you to something else. If you really do not want to you can try Xantac, it's also available OTC. Have you been tested for H.pylori? If not, ask your doctor about it. It's a simple test(either by breath, blood or stool) and if you are positive then you can be treated and be rid of your acid reflux.
As far as the hormone therapy, if you feel that you will benefit from hormone therapy and your doctor is not giving you good enough answers to why you can't (too much danger is a pretty broad statement) then get a second opinion.

Go see a Gastroenterologist!!!! That is a doctor that specializes in things like acid reflux!!!! He/she will know best. If you are confused about finding a good doctor, get the book "Healthcare for Less" by Michelle Katz. Not only will it help you find a good doctor, but it will help you save some money. Be honest with your dcotor about all your meds. A good doctor will be able to guide you and talk to the other doctors in your life about the right treatments for you. I hope this helps, although I was unclear if the doctor you mentioned was a GI doc.

TUMS. Also there are a couple of Prilosecs - maybe a different one would help. You could also try taking the Prilosec less frequently (every other day maybe). I know people who take Prilosec and it never makes them dizzy.

I am not sure what the medications are called where you are but you can start with simple antacids (Mylanta or Gaviscon).
If these don't work your doctor should prescribe something stronger for you - either a Histamine receptor antagonist such as Ranitidine or a Proton Pump Inhibitor such as Pantoprazole.
