Without sounding racist - yes. I won't specify though. Different social cliques do as well, as do different age groups.

I was a waitress for a few years.
My coworkers used to say that black people never tip, or only leave you a dollar. I said, "that's not true; watch." Then I demonstrated how incorrect they were, by getting an above average tip from the same regular customer who never tips them.
It only becomes true if you give bad service or have a negative attitude.

Most white people tend to tip, based on how they want to be perceived. If they weren't afraid of being thought cheap or poor, they would keep more of their money. If htey want to impress someone or elevate themselves, they will tip more

People from small towns-who stay close to home-and other isolated groups of people tip less. People who don't go out much and think $3 is a lot of money, will tip less. People who are unfamiliar with American culture-especially Mexicans-will tip less.

But 99% of the time, the customer pays for what they get. The waiter has control of how much tip they receive. You can make horrible mistakes and still have happy customers; depending on how you handle it.

It's not race....It's culture. In some countries tipping is considered and insult because the restaurant pays their servers well or gratuity is already included in the price of the meal. I worked in a tourist trap of a restaurant for quite a while and can say that most foreigners do not know the tipping customs of America. Servers only make on average $2.13/hr so tips are encouraged to balance out the rate to minimum wage. A lot of people don't know this so they don't tip.

Of course, sometimes, people are just cheap.

I don't think race has anything to do with it. Performance is how I tip. If you're lousy, then you'll get a lousy tip if any at all. If you're real good, then I usually tip about 25%. I've been known to tip $20 for a $40 meal, but that is a very rare case.

fyi i dont think it matters.. if they got it to give then they're gonna give..

when my bf and i got out doesn't matter if we only spending 20.00 we generally drop a $5-6 tip and then keep it moving..

for the comment saying that it's blacks it's probably cause they're ghetto.. but not all r like that.. i'm sure there r some cheapo white people and other nationalities that do the same thing and it's not right...

if i get good service then u get a good tip.. but some waitresses don't deserve shyt.. they're rude, they dont' greet u when u enter, they don't come over immediately to the table to wait on u and soemtimes they don't come back after u receive ur meal to ask if there is anything else u need..

now a waiter that does all these things dont' deserve nothing but 1.00.....

Yes as a bartender for 12 years, the broad streotype of "brothers don't tip" is generally true, and they keep you running back and forth to the kitchen or bar every chance they get because they don't place an order correctly. Its a pain in the *** especially when they try to impress everyone drinking top shelf. I have long held the belief everyone should work in the service industry for 2 years. I also judge dates when I go out on how they treat the waitstaff. As I stated before occasionally you will be suprised but not often. If you want to impress a date or colleagues do it by manners.

Black women are the worse tipper, they run you like a dawg and barley leave you 2 dollars I hate it, I always let someone else have the table because it usually isn't worth it.

no race does not matter. it is the type of people. for those who said black people dont tip is not true. GHETTO and just PLAIN cheap people dont tip. it is the place you work at. you work at a place where a lot of GHETTO people work you wont get a good tip.

I don"t think it has to do with races as per say,some people have been born cheap and will most likely die that way.Just do your job to the best of your ability and i am sure that you will reap your just rewards.
