You can basically use about anything for shelf paper. From newspapers, to shelf paper, to contact paper, to wall paper to butcher paper...

Anything that will be thick enough and heavy enough, so that when you start rooting around in there, it wont tear.

I wouldnt use christmas wrap, or anything really flimsy, as it will tear when you move things.

Get some tape and fold it upon itself to secure the paper if necesary or double stick tape so that paper wont move around.

I wish you well..

gift wrap left over from christmas, weddings etc. Shelf paper, newspapers if you are cheap. I don't use them myself. What is the purpose for lining the drawers anyway? Use wet rag and wipe out drawers and dry with paper towell and just don't use paper -one less hassle to worry with.

I used some leftover wallpaper. It works just fine and it was a lot easier to remove from the wood on the bottom of the drawers than it it was on the walls. Hated the measuring and cutting part! UGH!

Freezer paper, But I do like wallpaper it's nice and heavy and if it's a discontinued pattern can be very inexpensive. Something else you might try, linoleum or peel and stick floor tiles. They can be cut to fit and are washable. Of the two I'd go with the linoleum.
