why does my pokemon fire red does not save?

It says "please exchange backup memory" please tell me how to let it save!!!

File --> Save... --> (type name of file) Save.

but here's my advice. delete original rom n download a better pokemon fire red rom b'coz even if you save the game like this, you cant continue playing after beating the elite 4.
if you download one that can save, then u could continue playing after elite 4
