It ties neatly in with many other things, including smoking / parents not being able to ask medical details from GP hospital without direct consent.

I don't know why 16 - possibly because it's school leaving age, and you are know considered a young adult. You can work, go to college, leave home or whatever you choose. And you can choose to have sex.

Sweden's limit is (strangley) 12 years old for consent.

The Government with the help and backing of other people decide the legal age of consent for sexual intercourse.

The law is the law so if you're not old enough to engage in sexual intercourse, even the day before your birthday, then you're not old enough.

However the UK has been under a lot of debate as to whether or not this age of consent should be changed..but I can't remember if they said higher or lower...although more likely higher!

Even so, people under 16 are still loosing their virginity because they just don't really care about the law and how it could affect their lifes in the future. If they got caught and had a criminal record, what would a future employer say if or when they carried out a criminal record check, "I'm sorry, your criminal record says you have been convicted of rape and we don't want to hire a rapist".

Still, young people just don't care or realise how much this could affect them.

Great question though.

:-)

If you really want to get confused, come to the USA. Each state sets its own age-of-consent. Florida borders with Georgia and Alabama. In Florida, the legal age-of-consent for anyone at any age is set at 18. Step across the border into one of the other states and the age changes to 16. Does this mean that the kids in Alabama and Georgia are more mentally mature?

Some states have exceptions to their laws if the two participants are within a set amount of months in age. In Florida, as long as the oldest party is not over 24, the age-of-consent is 16.

In the US, 28 states, plus Washington DC set the age at 16, 8 states set the age at 17, and only 14 states set the age at 18.

Good luck!

15 sounds too young, 16 sounds about right, I recon you are a little more mature at that age compared to when you are 15. You can even ride a moped at 16 and not before, and if you are old enough to be on the road then having sex should be allowed.

Because they are considered mature enough to make their own decisions.

Thats why if u have sex with a minor even if they consent it's still classes a statutory rape because the authoritys deem them not to be mature enough to make the right decision.

Because if you consent to sex it is quite likely to result in pregnancy no matter how well protected you think you are, if you have left school then you are able to look after a child.

Have a bonfire on your outdoor. it is a calming, informal social gathering to easily relax and have relaxing! -Roast marshmellows/warm canines -Play video games alongside with hide and seek for, kick the can, etc. Have a spa social gathering. that's what I did for my twelfth b-day social gathering and it grow to be a blast! It grow to be all selfmade and did no longer value lots. in case you elect for you ought to even get manicures. For my sister's birthday she had a pool social gathering, it is often relaxing with summer season. yet another theory may be going to work out a action picture, play or something and going out to dinner. happy twelfth BIRTHDAY! delight on your social gathering! :)
